| The Greenwood Water Project Contract Signed Pictured above: Mayor Langfitt, Christie Enyart, Nila May, Matt Alexander, Duane Reynolds The Greenwood Water Project was officially awarded 3/5/09 to Mike Enyart and Sons, Inc. of South Point, Ohio. As low bidder, Enyart's contract was evaluated by Trey Horner of Hornor Brothers Engineering in light of specifications necessary to the completion of this massive water project. The meeting was attended by Mayor Charles Langfitt, Recorder Etta Stadler, and Plant Supervisor Duane Reynolds as representatives of the Town of West Union, Sheena Hunt and Kent Rollins representing Region IV, Supervisor Jesse Uldrich representing the North Bend Rail Trail, Anthony Rome of the Department of Highways, Todd Harrah and Christie Enyart of Enyart and Sons, Inc., Tim Gains of Keyspace Gas, Gary Boyles of Dominion Hope, Matthew Alexander of Alexander Law Offices, and Nila May of Horner Brothers Engineering, Inc. Duane Reynolds commented on the representation and cooperation of so many different agencies and groups involved in this wonderful project. Contracts were signed and work is scheduled to begin April 1, 2009, with a completion date of 180 days. The Town of West Union currently supplies 668 households in Doddridge County with water; the Greenwood Water Project will add approximately another 110 households. The project was funded through the Small Cities' Block Grant. Contractors are to endeavor to employ local workers. One exciting aspect of the Greenwood Water Project is that there is a project within this project. Partially through a grant by Alliance of West Virginia Champion Communities, the meters used in Greenwood will be provided with a remote radio read capability. Use of this technology is a major step in saving time, labor, equipment, and gasoline costs in this area for years to come. Walter Kelley, Supervisor, Town of West Union Maintenance Department, is looking forward to the time saved in meter reading and the elimination of most re-reads in this area.
