DISASTER RECOVERY CENTERS TO OPEN MONDAY

IN MARION AND DODDRIDGE COUNTIES

 

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. - Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers (MDRC), serving the recovery needs of people who sustained uninsured disaster-related losses in the early June storms that struck north-central West Virginia, will open Monday, July 7 in Doddridge and Marion counties, Federal Emergency Management Agency officials announced.

 The centers will operate from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Saturday (July 7 – 12) at the following locations:

 

         Marion County Police Reserve                     Doddridge Middle School

                         1100 State Street                                            Schoolhouse Road (right on Rt. 50)

      Fairmont, WV 26554                                      West Union, WV 26456

                                                                                   

Two more recovery centers remain open from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Saturday until July 17 at the following fixed sites:

 

                     Big Elm Elementary School                                         Gilmer County High School

   U.S. Route 19 (1 mile N. of Shinnston)                       300 Pine Street

            Shinnston, WV 26431                                                Glenville, WV 26351

 People from any of the counties designated as disaster areas may seek help at any Disaster Recovery Center. The counties are: Barbour, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Marion, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Wetzel.

MDRCs provide residents with an opportunity to meet directly with state, federal and some private disaster recovery specialists. FEMA urges people to start the registration process before visiting a center. To register with FEMA, call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or

TTY 1-800-462-7585 for those with a hearing- or speech-impairment. Registration is also available online at www.fema.gov. Phones will also be available at the centers for people requiring help to register for assistance.
