The Doddridge County Historical Society needs your help to preserve our rich history and heritage.
We are currently working on another ‘Books on CD’ projects The first, "The History of Doddridge County West Virginia - 1979" is finished. See ordering information on the right. Produced by Walt Dotson, all proceeds go to the Doddridge County Historical Society.
We need your help putting together the second, “A Photographic History of Doddridge County.”
This project was inspired by the work of Alton Childers. More than 30 years ago, the first of Alton's “Mostly about Ourselves” columns was published in the old West Union Record. With the help of the citizens of Doddridge County, Alton dug up and saved hundreds of photos and stories of early Doddridge County. We would like to find as many of these old photos as possible and scan them for this project.
We would also like to have any other pictures or history of any Doddridge County buildings, landmarks, railroads, bridges, schools, hospitals, stores, places of interest, or events you want to share.
This project will be impossible without your help. We want to include photographs and history of all communities.
Anyone having pictures (photographs, postcards, other images, or unpublished histories) of Doddridge County who wants to donate them to the Historical Society, we would love to have them. If you want to keep them in your family we still hope you will share them with us. You can scan them (200-300 dpi) and e-mail them to us at DoddridgeHistory@AOL.COM or you can contact the Doddridge County Historical Society and we will arrange to have them copied at your convenience.
Thank you.

The Doddridge County Historical Society now has the 1979 "History of Doddridge County, West Virginia" available on CD in Adobe PDF format.
Every page, including the end pages, is there for the viewing, and it is a lot cheaper.
Twenty dollars for the CD and five dollars shipping if they mail it to you. (They are available at the museum in West Union)
Every effort was made to make this CD a quality product. Each page was scanned, straightened and cleaned up. Since the pages were scanned, text cannot be copied but pages or portions of pages can be printed.
